memorable mommy moments

Motherhood is full of memorable moments.  Some days you are overwhelmed by emotion and wonder at this gift that has been put into your arms.  I found it hard to find just one memorable moment because they are so many. So I picked 2 for each of my children. The most memorable time for me as a mom, is not just at the time when my kids were born, but it is when they started to actively interact with the world, and reach milestones in their own growth.

Memorable moment 1: TheHeir has grown

A couple of months ago we have an amazing opportunity to go to Gold Reef City Them Park, and TheHeir wanted to go on a scary ride, we agreed to try out a few and though I was nervous I wanted to have this one experience with him. We laughed and screamed through the experience, but it was awesome and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. I for the first time really realized how grown my boy was. As I watched him come off the scariest ride and try and comfort me, who was feeling ill and had a pounding headache, time stood still for a moment and I saw the glimpse of the kind of man he will becomeone day. I was so proud, truly a memorable moment for a mother.

Memorable moment 2: Going back in time with the spare

When I was pregnant with TheSpare we had a family photo shoot to commemorate his coming birth and the last month there was going to be just 3 of us. A few months later when he was just starting to walk we came to the same place Rhodes memorial and I watched him walk around and try climb the staircase. Time stood stil for me, as I realized how time flies and how in being business and rushing through the daily actions of parenting, we miss out on the beaut of the moments, of stillness – where e should grateful. So this collage represents a beautiful memorable moment

Oh gosh – I will have to think a bit and by then I will have forgotten to come back here. I love your moments – and the photos with them.

I think for me one was when L went to grade 1 and my last little one was in Primary school – it was a bigger moment for me than when the firs tone went – all of a sudden I had nothing baby or toddler left in our house. They were all in big school. Another was this on Friday when A and her friend walked out of the sea in their bikinis and I almost did not recognize the two teens walking out – yes, they are still tweens but gosh, they looked like two teenagers – giggling, chatting and way too big way too soon

Hi Lindiwem, children do grow up fast and having a family photo shoot before a new arrival is a lovely idea (and one I probably should have done, but didn’t think of). As for my most memorable moments with my two, I would have to say that for my son (my firstborn) it was when he started school. My most memorable moment of my daughter was when I found her stuffing her little fat face full of chocolate that I had hidden away for them. It was at that moment I saw myself in her.

This is such a lovely post. We are rushing through life to get here and there that we miss the best moments, don’t we? What a lovely reminder of the things that we should take time over, and we should appreciate more. Your boys are lovely, you should be proud of both their accomplishments!
