Good Day and happy Monday.
Welcome to another fabulous week!
We are having an exciting week in our house as my sister in law is getting married this weekend. It is going to be a hectic wedding as African weddings are a community affairs with a lot of excitement, preparation and drama. It will be also extremely exhausting, Thankfully the Monday after is a holiday, so we can all rest and recover. I will be posting pictures of the wedding, and my outfits, as well as a bit about my role as an African Bride (Makoti) on my instagram account (@A_well_heeled_woman) and will have a post up next week about what happened and who happened. Look out for that.
To give you a glimpse into what is coming this weekend, check out the pictures from my own tradition wedding or Patlo. I am a Zulu girl and my husband is from Zeerust which is a predominatly Setswana speaking area. The Patlo was his families way of welcoming me to the family. I got dressed up in the traditional clothes of a makoti (a bride), with the blanket that I must always wear at all weddings and funerals.
THE DISCLAIMER : We did our traditional ceremony 10 years after our official white dress offical wedding, Yes we have 2 weddings in south africa – and so I was pregnant with our second child and extremely sick with morning sickness, thats why I look so unhappy in these pictures)
Week 11 of the 52 Week Blogger Challenge
This week’s 52 week blogger challenge post is about “My Favorite TV Shows”, those who have been following the blog for a while will know I am not a fan of TV. In actually months go by before I get to watch it. Also, since we moved into our new house I managed to ensure that the TV is only the tv room upstairs and not in the lounge, which is the pspace where we welcome visitors. I feel this allows you to connect with people and have actual conversations. This is one of the things I love about our new home
But I do have tv shows that I watch occasionally, usual I binge watch them.
- Isibaya – An amazing South African drama series that showcases the zulu language, culture as well as the clash between Modern and traditional values – I haven’t watched it in a while but both my sisters keep me appraised of progress
- Criminal Minds – This scares me to death, but I watch it just to see how these criminal pyshologists will solve the murders and crime
- Modern Family – They make me laugh so hard from beginning to the end
Men at Work – because that amount of ridiculousness and fun cannot be contained
- Big bang Theory – it is too funny for words
So tell me about your favorite TV shows and why do you like them
take care and have an amazing week ahead
