Good Morning lovelies, and happy Monday to you. It is a cold and dreadful day in Jozi but we are glad to be alive. This topic for this week’s 52 week blogger challenge, is

3 Cities I want to Visit in order to be inspired or to experience history

Travel 3 cities I want to visit

I love to see the world, I get pretty excited when I am travelling to a new country or new city and get a chance to explore it, meet the people, experience the culture, eat the food and immerse myself in the history.  I guess one of the problems with being a bookwork is that there are so many places on my travel to do list, that are need to see so that I can confirm the mental image of the sight and sounds of it, from a story I read.

The cities on my bucket list

Stonetown, Zanzibar

Why I would to visit Zanzibar is probably so obvious to someone who has seen pictures of the place. It is exquisite and I am sucker for beach paradise holidays.  I am sure I can lie on the beach, reading a book and sipping cocktails everyday if it was a career choice one could make.  So I cannot wait to one day experience the beauty, the vibrancy Zanzibar.  Stonetown is considered the historical centre of Zanzibar. In looking at photographs and reading about Stonetown, I always get a feeling of a place with such a rich history, as if the winding alleys themselves could tell stories.  Stonetown is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Vatican City

Like many people around the world, whether Catholic or not, I have know about the Vatican for years, I have always found the concept of a country, built purely in support of a religion quite fascinating. I am so interested in knowing more about how it has survived for so many years.  So I know that when I finally go to Europe, the Vatican is one of the places I will be visiting and spending a lot of time learning about its history.  It has not helped matters that Dan Brown wrote all those books, whose location was around Vatican city.

Kingston, Jamaica

I have always been fascinated, by Jamaica’s music, culture and people.  2 years ago my husband and I had the privilege of travelling to Bermuda, and while there met many people, who have since become friends, who are originally from Jamaica.  It is interesting how being an African I can identify so well with the Jamaican’s sense of identity and history. I can’t wait to go to the home of reggae music, to dance to on the beaches, to visit historical sites and soaking the beauty of these amazing people and their country. This is definitely high on the cities I want to visit.

So much travel still to do

As mentioned it was hard for me to just stick to just 3 cities I want to visit, because there so many places I still have not seen in the world, but these are the top 3 on my mind at the moment.

Do you have a list of cities you want to see?  Tell me about them in the comments below?

Have a great week, and continue to dream big

All three of these are great! I’ve done the Vatican City and it is amazing – but want to see the others as well. Another one, albeit much closer to home, is New Orleans. I’ve been all over the world but have amazingly never made it there – and it is on the list!
