Hello there,
As we continue with the 52 Week Blogging Challenge, this weeks topic came at the right time.
I love cooking, I don’t do it every day because of time constraints, but I definitely cook up a storm on the weekends. I also love learning how to make new things. Recently I discovered a love for baking and have recently teamed up Nkululeko Mbhele of Lamontville to features some of his amazing creations and recipes on the blog. (COMING SOON).
This weekend I decided to make a cake for the family, I may love to cook but I am not a great baker. I was making a chocolate cake based on the ingredients Nkululeko had given me. My observations normal cooking is far easier, and yes you can ruin a cake. Pictures of what Nkululeko’s version looked like and what I ended up with are below. There is a reason one he owns the bakery, and I do not.

THE RESULTS 🙂
The good news is the family seemed to enjoy it so at least that a relief. Chat soon

It’s definitely all about the taste not what the food looks like!

Hello Cassi thanks for coming by yes this is true, i dont ever think i will make the pretty cakes but at least my family will enjoy it
February 19, 2016 at 12:24 amThis is hilarious!! I’m glad the result was still tasty. I’m also glad you posted this. I think that so many of us as mothers, co-workers, and bloggers spend a lot of time talking about how to get things right, and we forget to show that perfection does not always look the way we expect.
February 16, 2016 at 4:46 pmThank you Brittany I enjoyed making it and I enjoyed that it didnt have to be perfect . Yes you are sometime we let perfect get in the way of good enough
February 19, 2016 at 12:23 amHmmmm well, at least your cake tasted good!! LOL I definitely think baking can be more difficult that cooking a meal. Every year, my friend hosts a cookie party and it’s almost a thing, a known thing, that mine will not be the most attractive. She always takes pity though and I seem to win for best tasting or else she gives me the hostess pick prize. I love seeing what other, more creative, guests come up with though.

February 17, 2016 at 10:55 amI love to cook & bake! I’m self taught, and I’m a good baker, but believe, I still have some epic fails from time to time.
I think as long as it’s edible, it’s all good!
February 17, 2016 at 8:36 pmHello Judy would love to take a look at some of your easy recipes please i am learning so much as i go along
February 19, 2016 at 12:18 amWell, I’m sure it tasted good! I know I couldn’t make that, not even as good as yours. It’s all about the thought that truly counts. 🙂
February 18, 2016 at 3:25 amOh my dear you can trust me
February 19, 2016 at 12:16 amHey, a cake is a cake!! I’m sure it was delicious!! And I agree – regular cooking is far easier than baking. Baking is a science experiment! Glad to “meet” you through Kristy’s blog hop!

February 19, 2016 at 12:15 amI love seeing what things are supposed to look like compared to what they actually look like. I know that cookbook photos have been lit to perfection, are artfully composed and mine will never look as good, but it doesn’t stop me from trying.
I’m sure your cake was just as delicious as the original and I hope you carry on experimenting with baking.
